Get ready for a Halloween like no other at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve! Kids ages 5-12 are invited to explore this enchanted forest, where twisted oaks, towering sycamores, and winding paths set the stage for a spooky, magical adventure. Legend has it that elves and forest spirits roam these woods, and on Halloween, we just might catch a hint of their mischief! Our guided hike will lead families along a 2-mile, easy-to-moderate trail, with plenty of stops for ghostly tales and engaging activities. Event Details: Date: October 31, 2024 Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM Location: Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve Trailhead Distance: 2 miles (round trip) What to Bring: Water, snacks, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and costumes are welcome for extra Halloween fun! Activities include: Nature Detective Game: Kids will search for “Mischief Markers” like tracks, nests, and unusual leaves as we uncover the signs of creatures who call this forest home. Magic Stone Collecting: Hidden along the trail, kids will find “magic stones” with Halloween symbols to take home as keepsakes. Elfin Leaf Gathering: We’ll discover different leaf shapes and textures and learn how these native plants help sustain the forest ecosystem. This Halloween hike is a perfect mix of outdoor adventure and spooky fun. Kids will love discovering nature’s mysteries while learning about the unique flora and fauna of Elfin Forest.
